Details For International Students

For people coming to India for the first time, here's a list of some of the information you may need.


Visa Information
If you are not an Indian Citizen you will need a student visa to visit India for Education. A visa can be issued from your closest Indian Embassy / Consulate. Once you register with us, we will give you an invitation letter. This letter will form the basis on which you can be issued a student visa to come to India for your further studies.


A student visa is issued for the duration of the academic course of study or for a period of five years whichever is less, on the basis of the firm letters of admission from the Universities/recognized colleges or educational institutions in India. Change of purpose and institutions are not permissible.


Student Visa Fees depends on the nationality of the passport holder and type/duration of visa applied. These fees are payable in the local currency as well. Please check with the Indian embassy in your country for exact visa fees.


If visa is for more than 180 days, you need to register with the Commissioner of Police, Foreigner Branch, SBCITY, Hyderabad within 14 days on arrival in Hyderabad.


Currency regulations

Credit cards are widely accepted in India particularly MasterCard, American Express and Visa. With American Express, MasterCard or Visa cards you can use your card to obtain cash in rupees.

Arrival & Departure


Hyderabad is well connected to all major cities of the world via air. The city is also connected to major Indian cities with domestic flights. The international airport is at Shamshabad. Several international air lines like Lufthansa Airlines, Silk Air, Malaysian Airlines, Sri Lankan Airlines, Emirates and Indian Airlines operate flights on regular and weekly basis to several destinations across the globe.

Arrival Formalities :
If the visa for stay in India, is for more than 180 days, a Registration Certificate and Residential Permit should be obtained from the nearest Foreigners' Registration Office within 15 days of arrival. All persons including Indian nationals are required to fill in a Disembarkation Card, at the time of arrival. Ten photographs are also required for registration. The foreigners registered at Foreigners' Registration Office are required to report change of their addresses.



Departure from India :
All persons, except nationals of Bhutan & Nepal, leaving by air, road or rail have to fill in an Embarkation Card at the time of departure.



Exit Formalities :

Every foreigner who is registered in Foreigners' Registration Office need to get Exit Stamp before departing from India.

 


Time

India is 5 1/2 hours ahead of GMT/UTC, 4 1/2 hours behind Australian Eastern Standard Time and 10 1/2 hours ahead of American Eastern Standard Time. It is officially known as IST, Indian Standard Time and is consistent throughout the country.

 


Climate

Hyderabad is extremely hot most of the year. Summer temperatures vary between 40 deg celcius and 30 degrees celcius. The months between November and February are very pleasant. Winter temperatures vary between 22 deg Celsius to 14 deg Celsius. The rains occur between June to December. After the monsoon withdraws, the maximum temperature rises slightly due to increased insulation. The city receives more than 75 per cent of its rainfall from the south-west monsoon between from June to September. Humidity is very high from July to September.
